Therapeutic Education Leader

Qualifications

• Education: Minimum Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education, Bachelor's in ECE, or Elementary Education with 18 ECE credits
• Certification: DPI certification in ECE or related field preferred; Registry Level 14 or above within 90 days
• Experience: Minimum 5 years in early care education setting with preschool teaching experience; strong partnerships with low-income, high-risk, multicultural families
• Specialized Knowledge: Trauma effects and manifestations, trauma-sensitive approaches, infant and early childhood mental health principles, anti-bias education
• Curriculum Expertise: Social-emotional learning centered curriculum design and implementation, systems/ecological planning lens
• Professional Competencies: Independent work capabilities, strong problem-solving skills, flexibility, patience
• Language: Bilingual in Spanish and/or Hmong preferred
• Additional Requirements: Valid Wisconsin Driver's License with adequate insurance

Responsibilities

• Create healing learning environments by leading the Therapeutic Early Childhood Program for families and children experiencing trauma
• Collaborate with Therapeutic Child and Family Resilience Specialist and Classroom Leaders
• Plan and implement trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate curriculum
• Center social-emotional learning in all classroom activities, routines, and learning experiences
• Ensure comprehensive child development services including education, health, nutrition, and family support
• Build strong partnerships with parents, children, coworkers, consultants, and community partners
• Apply systems/ecological lens to child, family, classroom, and site planning
• Follow Head Start Performance Standards, licensing requirements, and accreditation criteria
• Support high-risk families with comprehensive mental health and educational services
