Therapeutic Counselor
Summary
Provides counseling to individuals and/or families using multiple forms of therapeutic approaches, including psycho-educational models and medical/illness models of assessment and diagnosis. Works with individuals and/or families to address issues such as depression, addiction and substance abuse, stress, and problems with self-esteem. May also help with job and vocational concerns or parenting.
Essential Job Functions
- Provides assessments in the areas of mental status, personality, behavioral response patterns, relationships, and family interactions.
- Provides individual counseling and support services and family psychotherapy as appropriate to training and program participant needs.
- Facilitates/co-facilitates counseling groups.
- Participates in treatment planning with a trans-disciplinary team.
- Consults with staff, insurance provider, family, etc. about treatment recommendations and progress.
- SUBMIT SERVICE SUMMARIES AND BILLING SLIPS FOR EACH PROGRAM PARTICIPANT SERVED, INDICATING OBJECTIVES, STRATEGIES, AND OUTCOMES OBTAINED.
- Completes daily billing summaries and turns them in to appropriate staff.
- ATTENDS CCS IN-HOUSE SEMINARS AS SCHEDULED AND/OR APPROPRIATE.
- ATTENDS WEEKLY DISCIPLINE MEETING AND MEETINGS WITH SUPERVISOR(S) AS NECESSARY.
- ENSURES EVALUATION, PROGRESS, AND DISCHARGE REPORTS ON EACH PROGRAM PARTICIPANT ARE COMPLETED IN A TIMELY MANNER.
- ENSURES ADHERENCE TO ACCREDITATION STANDARDS AND ETHICS OF CONFIDENTIALITY.
- PARTICIPATES IN CRISIS INTERVENTION SYSTEM (BEeper TEAM).
- PERFORMS OTHER RELATED DUTIES AND ACTIVITIES AS REQUIRED.
- Supervisory Responsibilities: None required.
Minimum Knowledge And Skills Required By The Job
- Education And Experience: Master's degree in a human services field Two years of experience.
- Certificates, Licenses, And Registrations: LCPC / LPC or similar licensure required.
