About the role

The Therapeutic Behavioral Support Specialist is a highly trained and experienced staff member whose primary task is to provide individualized support to a specific client to assist the child in maintaining safe and healthy behaviors in residential, community, and school settings. The specialist will work directly with the individual client in the program and other related settings (e.g., schools, community, residential programs) providing clinical interventions aimed at stabilizing a client's placement.

The Therapeutic Behavioral Support Specialist supports milieus by helping to create a therapeutic environment and performs crisis prevention through additional supportive and therapeutic services for individual clients to enhance their treatment. The specialist works with a team to assess individual client and milieu needs, develop behavior support plans and milieu support plans, and implement these plans in collaboration with treatment teams and direct care staff.

The Therapeutic Behavioral Support Specialist will supervise the activities of clients who have finished their secondary schooling and youth who need specialized support. Additionally, they provide and maintain Independent Living Skills (ILS) training plans based on the results of assessments and are responsible for knowledge of individualized treatment plans.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized support to clients to maintain safe and healthy behaviors in residential, community, and school settings.
• Deliver clinical interventions aimed at stabilizing a client's placement in various settings (e.g., schools, community, residential programs).
• Support milieus by creating a therapeutic environment and performing crisis prevention through therapeutic services.
• Assess individual client and milieu needs, develop behavior support plans and milieu support plans, and implement these plans in collaboration with treatment teams and direct care staff.
• Supervise activities of clients who have finished secondary schooling and youth requiring specialized support.
• Provide and maintain Independent Living Skills (ILS) training plans based on assessment results.
• Maintain knowledge of individualized treatment plans.
• Perform "Safe Crisis Management" techniques to restrain or transport a resident who has temporarily lost control of their behavior.

Requirements

• High School Diploma (required); Bachelor's Degree (preferred).
• Significant experience related to child care or supervision of children and/or adolescents, or experience in providing therapeutic interventions with clients who have severe emotional and behavioral concerns.
• Willingness and ability to perform "Safe Crisis Management" techniques.
• Must be at least 24 years old.

Schedule

Shift Hours: 1:00 PM – 9:00 PM, 5 days a week.

Pay

Starting rate of $18.00–$19.80 per hour, with opportunity to receive two pay increases within the first 90 days. Pay varies depending on level of experience and education.
