Testing Coordinator
About the role
The testing coordinator at Nevada Heart and Vascular Center (NHVC) assists patients in obtaining necessary records and labs prior to testing. They also call patients to inform them of expectations and instructions for ordered tests, such as nuclear stress tests, PET scans, and CTAs. The coordinator helps patients schedule and reschedule testing dates and follows up with patients to ensure their needs are met.
Responsibilities
- Follows all policies, procedures, and directives from administration, including OSHA Safety Manual, Corporate Compliance Manual, HIPAA Compliance Manual, Employee Handbook, and departmental policies and procedures.
- Prepares correspondence and documentation.
- Works as a vital part of a team of medical professionals.
- Follows HIPPAA regulations.
- Aids with other clerical tasks, such as obtaining lab results for patients and explaining test details.
- May refer to senior staff for assistance with more complex issues.
- Escalates issues to supervisor for resolution.
- Assists with various projects as assigned.
- Maintains short and long-term goals for the department.
- Reports to work, meetings, and professional obligations on time.
- Participates in staff meetings and evaluates department performance.
- Recommends improvements to department efficiency and services.
- Accurately reviews and updates patient medical records.
- Attends staff and training meetings as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Adheres to corporate, departmental, and HR policies and procedures.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience in a medical setting preferred but not required.
- General computer skills with knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and email applications.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Good interpersonal skills for working within a team environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills for interacting with patients, staff, physicians, and management.
