Territory Manager (North East, Wyoming)
About Halter
At Halter, we’re on a mission to enable farmers and graziers to run the most productive and sustainable operations. Our customers are using Halter to break free from the time-intensive constraints of conventional practices — imagine watching 500 cattle stand up and walk calmly towards their next break with no quad bikes, no dogs, no fences. As the leading provider of virtual fencing technology, Halter aims to enable 50% of the world’s landmass to be more productive and sustainable. We’re backed by Tier 1 investors including Founders Fund, Bessemer Venture Partners, BOND, DCVC, Blackbird, Promus Ventures, Rocket Lab’s Peter Beck, and Icehouse Ventures.
About the Role
As a Territory Manager at Halter, you will play a critical role in driving new business growth and ensuring customer success within your designated territory — the North East region of Wyoming. You will be responsible for executing sales strategies, building strong customer relationships, and meeting ambitious growth targets, all while acting as Halter’s on-the-ground representative. This role requires a proactive, hands-on approach with a focus on both expansion and long-term customer satisfaction. Frequent travel is required. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams including Product, Support, and Customer Onboarding, sharing field insights to ensure Halter’s technology continues to meet the needs of US farmers. Your day-to-day could include being on horseback helping customers gather cattle, traversing pastures on a side-by-side, discussing Halter’s benefits at a kitchen table, or attending industry events like CattleCon and local Livestock Association meetups.
Responsibilities
- Prospecting New Business: Drive up driveways, attend local cattle auctions, meet with Livestock, Cattlemens, and Stockmans associations; build pipeline through outbound lead generation and timely handling of inbound leads while balancing administrative tasks with in-field activities.
- In-Field Sales: Engage customers where they work — over coffee at a kitchen table, in the saddle, or on a side-by-side in a pasture. Help potential customers on the ranch before demonstrating Halter’s value; build relationships through gestures like dropping off coffee during calving season.
- Expanding Existing Opportunities: Grow existing accounts by identifying new ways to increase value over time; recognize that not every rancher will collar all cows and treat expansion as a strategic opportunity.
- Hitting Sales Targets: Manage a high-growth pipeline with discipline; expertly qualify and unqualify leads; balance current deals with forward-looking pipeline management.
- Customer Account Management: Maintain close post-sale relationships to ensure ongoing satisfaction, provide support, and address challenges; ensure smooth handoff from sales to onboarding and deployment so customers realize maximum value.
- Territory Ownership: Take full ownership of the territory — cover every corner, leave no stone unturned; serve as the face of Halter in the region, building lasting relationships with local, state, and federal agencies and agricultural groups.
- Customer Onboarding: Own the end-to-end onboarding experience; ensure a smooth transition from sales to implementation even after handoff to other teams.
- Field Learnings & Feedback: Serve as the primary point of contact for gathering customer feedback in the territory; advocate tirelessly for customer needs.
- Collaborating with Support Teams: Work cross-functionally to resolve customer issues quickly; escalate problems as needed; ensure customers feel fully supported.
- Attending Industry Events: Leverage Halter and industry events to generate leads, deepen relationships, participate in demonstrations, and expand Halter’s market influence.
- Contributing to US Sales Strategy: Collaborate with the broader team to optimize and evolve the sales process for the US market; drive efficiencies as the organization scales.
Requirements
- Driven Attitude & Communication Skills: Results-driven, motivated, adaptable; excels in high-stakes environments; well-prepared and skilled at communicating with customers and internal teams; proactive and action-oriented.
- Ranching / Cattle Experience: Deep understanding of ranching or cattle operations and the unique challenges of the industry; able to connect meaningfully with customers on what matters most.
- Sales & Customer Success Expertise: Strong history of creating new business opportunities, negotiating value-based sales conversations, and building lasting customer relationships; focus on long-term success stories and upsell expansion rather than transactional sales.
- Territory Management Experience: Experience managing a large territory with a balanced focus on sales and customer success, ideally within agriculture or technology.
- Problem Solving & Collaboration Ability: Resourceful and quick-thinking; works well with cross-functional teams to address challenges and drive solutions.
- Willingness to Travel: Frequent travel within the territory to engage with customers and prospects.
