About the role

The Division of Energy, Matter and Systems (EMS) in the School of Science and Engineering (SSE) at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) is seeking applications and nominations of candidates in the areas of experimental fluid mechanics, microfluidics, and soft and complex materials for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level to start in Fall 2027.

Responsibilities

  • Play an important role in the MSE and biomedical engineering programs.
  • Secure continuous external funding through an extramurally funded research program.
  • Lead to novel applications in fluid dynamics, such as health engineering, environmental modeling, microfluidics, and biology-on-a-chip devices.
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in mechanical engineering and related areas.
  • Engage in discipline, division, school, or university services appropriate to the position.
  • Advance the goals and strategic plans of SSE and UMKC.

Requirements

  • Hold a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering with postdoctoral experience.
  • Strong commitment to teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in mechanical engineering and related areas.
  • Ability to engage in discipline, division, school, or university services appropriate to the position.
  • Ability to advance the goals and strategic plans of SSE and UMKC.
