About the role

The Mechanical Engineering Department at The City College of New York (CCNY) invites applications for full-time (tenure-track) faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor in areas related to Mechanical Engineering. The department is a vibrant unit within the Grove School of Engineering, offering the highest enrollment among engineering majors and committed to excellence in research, teaching, and innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in cutting-edge research across fundamental heat transfer and thermal-fluids systems, energy, fluid dynamics, materials engineering, advanced manufacturing, and AI-driven innovation.
  • Develop an externally funded research program and teach both undergraduate and graduate courses.
  • Mentor/advise students at all levels and contribute to the academic wellbeing of the department.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is required.
  • Strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching.
  • Experience and an extensive research and publication record may lead to consideration for the rank of Associate Professor.

Qualifications

  • Commitment to research and teaching excellence.
  • Ability to attract significant research funding.
  • Proficiency in mentoring and supporting student development.

Skills

  • Leverage AI to advance innovation in materials, robotics, manufacturing, or other relevant areas.

Pay

Salary Range: $90,838 - $109,025. Salaries above the contractual base are available commensurate with experience and the PSC-CUNY contract.
