Primary Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate courses (12 hours per semester) based upon the needs of the department and your specific area of expertise.
  • Guide and mentor students through senior engineering capstone design projects.
  • Hold regular office hours for student aid, academic advisement, and career mentorship, including providing recommendations for students entering the industry.
  • Complete formal course assessments and improvement projects as a part of the regular ABET accreditation process.
  • Assist with general department initiatives, including student recruitment, industry relations, curriculum development, and fundraising.
  • Participate in campus life, which may include delivering chapel devotionals and supporting the spiritual growth of students.

Position Requirements

  • Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline. Ability to effectively communicate with undergraduate students about life, academics, and advising, both in and out of the classroom. Must be actively engaged in a life of Christian faith and service, demonstrated by conduct consistent with the OC Covenant and beliefs consistent with the OC Statement of Commitment, including active membership in a local church.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (highly preferred for tenure-track track). Expertise in one or more of the following areas: Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, Systems Engineering, or Aerodynamics. Prior teaching or industry experience.
