Ranked ASSISTANT TEACHING PROFESSOR of Mechanical Engineering / UMKC School of Science & Engineering/ Division of Energy, Matter, and Systems

About the role

The Division of Energy, Matter, and Systems (EMS) in the School of Science and Engineering (SSE) at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) is seeking applications for a non-tenure-track teaching faculty position in Mechanical Engineering at the Assistant Teaching Professor level, to start in the Spring Semester 2027 (January 2027).

Responsibilities

• teach fundamental and specialized courses in ME
• have a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring undergraduate and transfer students
• engage in departmental, school, or university services appropriate to the position
• advance the goals and strategic plans of UMKC

Qualifications

• hold a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline as of the start date or possess an M.Sc. in a relevant field combined with substantial industry experience
• backgrounds and expertise in instrumentation, thermal sciences, robotics, and controls are particularly encouraged to apply

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary is commensurate with credentials and experience. This is a nine-month, benefit-eligible, full-time (1.0 FTE) ranked faculty appointment eligible for promotion.
