Tenure-Track Assistant Professor Faculty Position in RNA Biology

About the role

Indiana University Bloomington (IUB) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Biology in the field of RNA Science and Technology. As part of the Faculty 100 strategic initiative, we seek candidates developing innovative experimental and computational approaches to understand, visualize, or therapeutically target RNA and RNA machines, but all areas of RNA biology will be considered. IU Bloomington provides a highly collaborative environment for RNA research, with existing strengths in structural biology, virology, genomics, computational biology, RNA regulation and modification, and synthetic biology. Researchers have access to state-of-the-art facilities for genomics, light microscopy, physical biochemistry, structural biology (cryo-electron and crystallography) and advanced high-performance computing resources. This 10‑month appointment would ideally start August 1, 2027, but start date is negotiable.

Responsibilities

• Develop and/or maintain a robust research program including pursuing and obtaining major extramural research funding to conduct cutting-edge research as a principal investigator.
• Teach and mentor undergraduate and/or graduate students.
• Participate in service within the department, school and university and actively engage with the professional community.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree.
• Strong record of scholarly achievement appropriate to the level of appointment.
• Evidence of research productivity through first- or corresponding-author peer-reviewed publications, presentations at relevant scientific or professional conferences, and other indicators of scholarly impact.
• Strong potential to secure external research funding.
