Description

The University of Pennsylvania invites applications for a tenure‑track Assistant Professor position in the Department of Biology. The department seeks individuals working broadly in cell biology and/or physiology whose research addresses the development and function of organisms. Areas of particular interest include, but are not limited to, the cellular basis of physiological function, cellular responses to environmental stresses, and the cell biology of organisms in natural or human‑altered settings. All experimental systems are considered.

The department is a collaborative community with research spanning molecular and cellular biology, structural biology, ecology, evolutionary biology, and mathematical and computational biology. It maintains an integrated research and educational program across basic biological sciences and emphasizes “Life in its Natural Context.” Faculty benefit from affiliations with other departments and schools (e.g., Engineering & Applied Sciences, Medicine, Veterinary Medicine) and from interdisciplinary resources on Penn’s contiguous green urban campus.
