Temporary Purchase Ledger Assistant (24 hours per week)

About the role
As a key member of the Purchase Ledger team, you will play an important role in ensuring all goods purchased are accurately recorded, authorised, and accounted for. This position involves processing a high volume of invoices while maintaining excellent attention to detail and delivering outstanding service to suppliers and colleagues alike. This role is for 24 hours per week over 3 consecutive days (work pattern to be arranged) and is based at our Head Office in Longtown for a period of 3 to 6 months.
Responsibilities
- Processing a high volume of supplier invoices accurately and efficiently.
- Ensuring all purchases are correctly recorded, authorised, and accounted for.
- Managing supplier accounts, resolving invoice queries, and ensuring payments are processed on time.
- Maximising available supplier discounts through effective account management.
- Maintaining and reconciling inter-company accounts.
- Processing and controlling Debit Notes.
- Recording overhead costs and accounting for VAT.
- Building positive relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a Purchase Ledger or Accounts Payable role.
- Organised, proactive, and passionate about delivering high-quality work.
- Works well as part of a team and can manage a busy workload.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong Excel skills.
- Professional and confident telephone manner.
- Comfortable communicating with suppliers and colleagues at all levels.
- Experience with SAP Business One (desirable but not essential).
