About the role

As a key member of the Purchase Ledger team, you will play an important role in ensuring all goods purchased are accurately recorded, authorised, and accounted for. This position involves processing a high volume of invoices while maintaining excellent attention to detail and delivering outstanding service to suppliers and colleagues alike. This role is for 24 hours per week over 3 consecutive days (work pattern to be arranged) and is based at our Head Office in Longtown for a period of 3 to 6 months.

Responsibilities

  • Processing a high volume of supplier invoices accurately and efficiently.
  • Ensuring all purchases are correctly recorded, authorised, and accounted for.
  • Managing supplier accounts, resolving invoice queries, and ensuring payments are processed on time.
  • Maximising available supplier discounts through effective account management.
  • Maintaining and reconciling inter-company accounts.
  • Processing and controlling Debit Notes.
  • Recording overhead costs and accounting for VAT.
  • Building positive relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a Purchase Ledger or Accounts Payable role.
  • Organised, proactive, and passionate about delivering high-quality work.
  • Works well as part of a team and can manage a busy workload.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Professional and confident telephone manner.
  • Comfortable communicating with suppliers and colleagues at all levels.
  • Experience with SAP Business One (desirable but not essential).
