About the role

This is a temporary position at Colorado Parks and Wildlife, paying $18.00-$19.50 per hour. Employment starts as soon as April/May 2026 through September/October 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Maintenance: General park maintenance including cleaning, mopping, vacuuming, disinfecting, emptying trash, and power washing park buildings and facilities.
  • Boat Inspection: Inspecting all incoming and outgoing boats for Aquatic Nuisance Species (ANS).
  • Visitor Center/Entrance Attendant: Greeting the public, answering the phone, providing information on park facilities and procedures, verifying and selling park passes, boat and OHV registrations, hunting and fishing licenses, selling and stocking merchandise, updating and maintaining bulletin boards, creating flyers, brochures, newsletters, performing general clerical duties.
  • Marina Concessions: Managing and maintaining rental boats and equipment, managing seasonal and short-term marina rental space, selling concessions at the marina store, checking in and out customers, inspecting rental equipment, giving instruction on proper use, safety, and terms of rental, performing data entry on tablets and computers, handling money, balancing sales, completing paperwork, cleaning and doing light maintenance duties of the interior and exterior of concession and rental dock areas, greeting customers, providing park information, selling passes and fishing licenses.
  • Naturalist: Researching, planning, advertising, and presenting educational and interpretive programs, coordinating and scheduling guest speakers and volunteer naturalists to conduct and lead programs, promoting attendance at programs, roving interpretation, community outreach programs/events, maintaining interpretive displays and bulletin boards throughout the park, assisting with planning, organizing, advertising, and facilitating special events on the park, attending agency-sponsored training, working closely with other volunteers and park staff, and corresponding with and working professionally with natural resource professionals.

Requirements

  • Minimum Qualifications: Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver license, and a safe driving record. Background screening may be required.

  • Conditions of Employment: Must be at least 16 years old, have strong customer service and communication skills, be enthusiastic, organized, and self-motivated, able and willing to do data entry on tablets and computers, willing to work nights, weekends, holidays, and varied shifts, willing to work outside and in inclement weather, able to work with minimal supervision, and able to perform or with reasonable accommodation, the physical requirements as listed above.

Qualifications

  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift 50 lbs. or more, balance, walk, stand, stoop, climb onto/into trailered boats, crawl, crouch, kneel, reach, and bend in different positions.
