About the role
This is a temporary position (9 months or less) paying $17.00-$19.00 per hour. Employment starts April or May 2026.
Responsibilities
- Aquatic Nuisance Species Inspector: Staff the park ANS inspection station, conduct physical boat inspections, distribute brochures, and educate visitors about State Park regulations.
- Park Maintenance Technician: Perform general park maintenance, operate and maintain vehicles, and provide information and assistance to visitors.
- Visitor Services Technician: Staff park entrance stations and visitor centers, provide information, assist with special events, and handle visitor complaints.
- Interpretive Naturalist: Facilitate park interpretive and environmental education programs, develop and present programs, and assist with special events.
Requirements
- Must be 16 years of age or older.
- Must have a current and valid driver's license or reliable transportation.
- Must be able to work outdoors and on weekends, holidays, and varied shifts.
- Must be able to climb in and out of vessels, and under trailers.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills (written and oral).
- Ability to work with little supervision.
- May be required to work at the ANS station for an 8-hour shift and take lunch at the station.
- Miscellaneous: Available for up to 40 hours per week and commit to a minimum 4-month work season.
Qualifications
- Physical Requirements: Perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.
- Other: Ability to perceive color differences and hear verbal and radio communications.
Skills
- Customer service skills.
- Effective communication and public relations skills.
- Ability to work with little supervision.
- Knowledge of State Park regulations and outdoor recreation.
