Temporary Library Teacher Resource Center Specialist
Part-time (20 hours per week), temporary position expected to end on or before 1 year from the date of hire. Extension contingent upon additional funding and satisfactory performance.
Pay
The anticipated hiring salary is $1,990.50 per month (Step 1). Full-time equivalent salary is $3,981 per month. The salary range for this classification is $3,981 - $5,800 per month (full-time equivalent).

About the Role
Under the supervision of the Dean, this position works in the Teacher Resource Center (TRC), providing books, media, educational kits, and curricular materials to Fresno State students, faculty, staff, pre-K-12 educators, and community members.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions
- Provide excellent customer service at the TRC service point, assisting patrons in person, by phone, and via email
- Maintain TRC stacks and shelve materials
- Prepare displays, exhibits, and reading lists to market the TRC collection
- Participate in the collection development process (selection and deselection), including coordination of TRC deselection and purchase suggestions
- Create LibGuides and other educational materials for TRC
- Coordinate, plan, and staff programming and events (readings, course visits, etc.)
- Create content, book lists, and event descriptions for the website
Secondary Job Functions
- Provide backup oversight of TRC student assistants
- Maintain and coordinate marketing materials for TRC
- Coordinate cataloging and records management of TRC materials
- Prepare and maintain statistical records and reports
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
Knowledge
- Working knowledge of library terminology
- Proficiency in library organizational structure, policies, and procedures, including those pertaining to the Teacher Resource Center
- Full proficiency in the use of automated library systems pertaining to circulation and records management
- General knowledge of library collection organization and classification scheme, and ability to interpret bibliographic records
- Understanding of university and library policies and practices associated with the ethical use of and access to library and online resources
- General knowledge of accounting and budget procedures, including the ability to perform arithmetic operations to track and monitor accounts and budgets
- Knowledge of computer office systems and ability to use a broad range of technology, systems, and software packages (Microsoft Office Suite, Google apps)

- Ability to interpret library unit’s policies and procedures and apply them accurately; evaluate procedures and recommend changes
- Demonstrated problem-solving and research skills to address standard and non-standard work problems
- Ability to compile and present information in an organized manner
- Effective communication and interpretive skills to resolve patron problems, assess information needs, and guide patrons in the use of library resources
- Ability to provide lead work direction and training to student workers, including understanding of employment and payroll procedures related to student workers

- Strong oral and written communication skills, with ability to conduct presentations and trainings
- Competence in using Google Suite and other software applications to create, share, and access information

- Ability to serve as a resource to students, staff, and the community in responding to inquiries and providing detailed information about campus news and events
- Ability to create and maintain program records and provide data for review in developing and implementing strategies and activities
Qualifications
Completion of a high school education or equivalent certification. Two years of related library and/or administrative support experience or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
