About the role
This is a temporary position (9 months or less) paying $20 - $21 per hour. Employment starts 04/25/2026 through 10/31/2026. This posting is for both Lead and Non Lead Inspector positions.
Responsibilities
- Perform boat inspector and decontaminator responsibilities according to state regulations and standard protocols at Antero Reservoir.
- Provide public outreach on the aquatic invasive species topic by providing printed material to those visiting the reservoir.
- Work either independently or in pairs to inspect boats launching and leaving the reservoir, with respect to invasive species such as zebra/quagga mussels.
- Site lead boat inspector will be responsible for providing on-the-job training to inspection staff, creating schedules, and making sure all shifts are covered during operational hours.
- Collect and verify accurate time keeping records for payroll purposes.
- Work with area work lead to resolve challenges with staff and customers.
- Recommend hiring/firing of employees to area work lead.
- Ensure inspection station staff are following standardized protocols by performing quality control assessments on a monthly basis.
- Maintain inventory of all required supplies.
- Perform basic maintenance & troubleshooting on power washer/decontamination unit.
Requirements
- Minimum Qualifications: Good driving record and ability to work weekends, early mornings, and late evenings. Good communication skills, both written and verbal. Excellent customer service experience working with the public. Reliable and timely. Ability to self-motivate and work independently.
- Preferred Qualifications: High school diploma. Experience working with boats, trailers, power washers, small engines, and/or heavy equipment preferred. Experience with Microsoft Word applications – Word, Excel, Access.
