Temporary Harbor Operations Specialist

Primary Purpose Of Job & Essential Duties/Responsibilities

Maintains a computerized inventory.

• Makes sure all vessels are authorized.
• Sets up temporary moorage for transient vessels.
• Registers transient vessels and informs owners about billing and payment procedures.
• Maintains clean, orderly, and safe floats and docks.
• Removes and disposes of debris material.
• Maintains structures within harbors and reports serious maintenance needs.
• Notifies the Harbormaster of emergencies such as oil spills, boat fires, moorage or structure fires, sinking/sunken vessels, tsunami alerts/conditions, and major crimes.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

• Must be able to communicate effectively.
• Must be able to observe and monitor operations within the harbor system.
• Must be able to operate vessels and perform harbor maintenance.
• Must be able to walk several miles each day to perform necessary duties.
• Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds, or heavier weights with assistance or the use of proper equipment.
• Must be able to work in loud noise levels, cold and hot temperatures, inclement weather conditions, hazards, vibration, confined workspace, chemicals, mechanical and/or electrical hazards, and hazardous physical substances and fumes.
• Must be able to wear appropriate attire for the work assigned.
