This Temporary Facilities Laborer position is based in Mitchell, SD.

Responsibilities

• General landscaping and lawn care: watering, mowing and weed maintenance, trimming and replacing shrubs, applying lawn fertilizers, etc.
• Internal and external building cleaning and maintenance; glass window cleaning, painting of hand rails, equipment or guards, light bulb replacement, general area clean up, etc.
• Access to and usage of facilities equipment to complete work throughout this campus.
• Support of general facility projects and repairs; picking up parts, assisting with equipment repair, cleaning equipment components, shadowing various technician roles.
• Operating POET fleet vehicles for maintenance service and cleanup.
• Foster a culture of safe behavior and environmental compliance at all times.
• Maintain a team environment at all times and champion POET in the community.
• Maintain and advance the food safety and quality of POET’s products and processes to deliver a best‑in‑class culture of quality.
• Since we’re all about teamwork and getting the job done, your skills may be put to a lot of other uses.

Qualifications

• Pursuing or completion of a high school diploma or equivalent education.
• General safety awareness and willingness to take direction on task completion.
• Must be self‑motivated with the ability to work independently on various projects.
• Knowledge of the basics of Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn new programs.

Requirements

• Wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, steel‑toed boots, self‑contained breathing system, hazardous material suit, and hearing protection.
• Working at extreme heights (approximately 150 ft), in confined spaces, and in extreme temperatures from –20 °F to +100 °F, both indoors and outdoors.
• Ability to use the following equipment/tools, with training provided (not all‑encompassing): cleaning cart and supplies, forklift, riding and push lawn mower, bobcat sweeper, vacuum, snow blower, shovel, broom, mop, and ladder.
• Frequently: walk on slippery surfaces; grip with a force of up to 20 lbs; push and pull with a force of up to 30 lbs; bend forward while standing; use repetitive arm motions to wipe down and maintain work area.
• Occasionally: lift up to 50 lbs, with or without assistance; carry up to 50 lb, with or without assistance; be in awkward back, shoulder, wrists, and hand positions.
• Due to the physical and safety‑sensitive nature of this job, you will be subject to a physical and expected to pass a drug screen during the pre‑screen process. During employment, you’ll be subject to random drug and alcohol testing.

Hours: 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm, Monday‑Friday. This is an on‑site role located in Mitchell, SD.
