Job Summary

The Registered Nurse leads the health care team, providing professional nursing care according to established standards and policies. The role involves demonstrating leadership, maintaining patient safety, and ensuring effective communication and care coordination.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Upholds Kaiser Permanente’s policies and procedures, and adheres to applicable state, federal, and local laws.

  • Serves as a leader of the health care team, delegating tasks appropriately and holding team members accountable.

  • Understands and respects the scope of practice for both the nurse and team members, and escalates issues as necessary.

  • Communicates effectively within the team and with patients and families, prioritizing patient needs and ensuring confidentiality.

  • Participates in problem-solving and mentoring new employees, students, and colleagues.

  • Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, policies, procedures, and standards of practice.

  • Develops and implements individualized patient care plans, ensuring multidisciplinary collaboration and patient education.

  • Maintains a safe and functional work environment, promoting patient safety and comfort.

  • Provides customer service standards, addressing patient and family requests promptly and facilitating access to resources.

  • Adheres to attendance policies and reports to shifts promptly.

  • Supports a collaborative Labor-Management Partnership environment through participation in unit-based teams.

  • Minimizes overtime usage and identifies opportunities for system improvement.

  • Utilizes payroll and non-payroll resources efficiently.

Experience

  • Minimum one (1) year recent (within the last 3 years) full-time equivalent experience in Emergency Department.

  • No formal education or certification required.

  • Registered Nurse License (California) required.

  • Basic Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support certifications preferred.

Additional Requirements

  • This is a temporary seasonal position, non-benefited, with a commitment duration of 5 months from date of hire.

  • Will be required to work every other weekend and some holidays.

  • Actual base pay will be determined based on labor market data, internal alignment, and candidate qualifications.
