Job Summary

The Registered Nurse leads the health care team, providing professional nursing care according to established standards. They uphold Kaiser Permanente’s policies and principles, demonstrating leadership, flexibility, and quality in their work.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Upholds Kaiser Permanente’s Policies and Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities, and applicable state, federal, and local laws.

  • Serves as a leader of the health care team; delegates tasks appropriately, and demonstrates accountability.

  • Understands own and team members’ scope of practice and escalates issues as necessary.

  • Demonstrates professional, supportive behavior and champions new ideas.

  • Participates in problem identification and resolution, mentors, orients, and coaches others.

  • Complies with regulatory requirements, policies, procedures, and standards of practice.

  • Develops and/or contributes to the individualized plan of care, ensuring multidisciplinary planning, consultation, and education.

  • Maintains a clean, orderly, and functional work environment, treating all families with courtesy, respect, kindness, and compassion.

  • Provides an optimal patient care experience by actively listening to the needs of patients and family members and taking responsibility for meeting those needs.

  • Ensures patient safety related to medications and procedures, adhering to the five rights, patient falls prevention, decubitus prevention, and nosocomial infection control.

  • Ensures effective development and completion of discharge plans, including discharge barriers and patient/family education.

  • Ensures patient safety and comfort, identifying and discussing patient anxieties, fears, or concerns regarding their condition, treatment, or discharge.

  • Ensures patients clearly understand discharge instructions and medication purposes, side effects, and administration instructions.

  • Participates in problem-solving with other departments to assist members in resolving issues.

  • Shares responsibility and authority with subordinates and holds them accountable for performance.

  • Adheres to regulatory requirements, policies, procedures, and standards of practice.

  • Utilizes payroll and non-payroll resources to their maximum potential.

Experience

  • Minimum one (1) year recent (within the last 3 years) full-time equivalent experience in Emergency Department.

  • N/A Education

  • Registered Nurse License (California)

  • Basic Life Support Advanced Cardiac Life Support

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support

Additional Requirements

  • This position is a temporary seasonal position, non-benefited with a commitment duration of 5 months from date of hire.

  • Will be required to work every other weekend and some holidays.

  • FT or PT non-benefited, commitment of 5 months from date of hire.

  • Primary Location: California, Fontana, Fontana Medical Center.

  • Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36.

  • Shift: Night.

  • Working Hours Start: 07:00 PM.

  • Working Hours End: 07:30 AM.

Notes
