Job Summary

The Registered Nurse leads the health care team, providing professional nursing care according to established standards, policies, and procedures. The role adheres to Kaiser Permanente’s Vision, Mission, and Strategic Plan.

Essential Responsibilities

• Upholds Kaiser Permanente’s Policies and Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities, and applicable state, federal, and local laws.
• Serves as a leader of the health care team; delegates tasks appropriately, and demonstrates accountability.
• Understands and supports the scope of practice for both themselves and team members, escalating issues as necessary.

• Communicates effectively using various strategies, including the chain of command and issue escalation, to achieve intended outcomes.
• Participates in problem identification and resolution, mentors, orients, and coaches others in unit-specific operations and patient care activities.

• Collaborates with other departments to assist in resolving member problems.
• Complies with regulatory requirements, policies, procedures, and standards of practice.
• Develops and/or contributes to the individualized plan of care, reflecting assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Maintains the plan based on patient progress and evaluation.
• Ensures patient safety, including medication administration, patient falls, decubitus prevention, and infection control.
• Ensures optimal pain control and patient comfort; addresses patient anxieties, fears, or concerns.
• Provides clear and understandable discharge instructions and educates patients and families about outpatient medical management plans.
• Practices customer service standards, promptly answering call lights, alarms, and patient requests, maintaining confidentiality, and ensuring a clean, orderly, and functional work environment.
• Treats all families of patients with courtesy, respect, kindness, and compassion, actively listening to their needs and taking responsibility for meeting them.
• Works every other weekend and some holidays, with a commitment duration of 5 months from date of hire.

Experience

• Minimum one (1) year recent (within the last 3 years) full-time equivalent experience in Emergency Department.
• No formal education required.
• Registered Nurse License (California).
• Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications are preferred.

Additional Requirements

• This is a temporary seasonal position, non-benefited, with a commitment duration of 5 months from date of hire.
• Will be required to work every other weekend and some holidays.
• FT or PT non-benefited, commitment of 5 months from date of hire.
• Primary Location: Fontana, California.
• Scheduled Weekly Hours: 24.
• Shift: Night.
• Workdays: Sun, Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat.
• Working Hours Start: 07:00 PM.
• Working Hours End: 07:30 AM.
