Temp, PT Evening English Tutor

Job Responsibilities

The tutor is primarily responsible for encouraging self-directed learning and development in each student. This includes assisting students in understanding their coursework by helping clarify concepts or providing clear explanations of assignments. The tutor is not expected to correct student papers or make revisions, but rather to offer clarifying comments and guidance on the writing process.

English Tutor Visitation

Tutors are asked to visit classes at the start of each semester to introduce themselves and make students aware of tutoring resources. They may also be asked to attend English classes or other college events to promote tutoring services. Tutors may also be asked to coordinate and present workshops to assist with just-in-time learning.

Additional Tasks

Additional tasks may also be assigned by the director.

Qualifications

• Degree in English
• Potential for additional qualifications: Background in education, experience tutoring/teaching a plus

Hours

2 nights per week with the option to pick up more time as needed.
