About the role

We are seeking a candidate with experience as a Residential Advisor (RA), Direct Support Professional (DSP), strong customer service skills, and experience working with youth aged 16-24 years to maintain a safe, clean, and orderly dorm environment.

Schedule

Multiple shift options available:

  • Prime Shift: Monday through Friday, 3:00 PM – 12:00 AM
  • Split Shift: Monday and Tuesday overnight (11:30 PM – 8:30 AM) and Saturday and Sunday (11:30 AM – 12:00 AM)
  • Overnight Shift: Wednesday through Sunday, 11:30 PM – 8:30 AM
  • On-Call Hours: Available to fill in where needed on any shift

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate accountability of students present for duty at the center
  • Provide counseling and guidance to students in assigned dorms on topics such as attitude, behavior, and interpersonal relationships
  • Monitor student activity in the dorm and ensure appropriate behavior
  • Direct students and assist during maintenance and cleanup of dorm areas
  • Provide training in independent living and leadership skills
  • Reinforce positive behaviors and hold students accountable for negative behaviors
  • Maintain shift logs, enter data into the center information system and student folders, and report unusual or critical incidents to supervisors
  • Support dorm supervisors, counselors, and other team members in providing effective case management services
  • Act as a team member with other advisors to complete assigned shift duties and communicate shift-specific information
  • Serve as an advisor to student peer counsel

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Residential experience in a group home or college dormitory setting preferred
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record

Skills & Competencies

  • Ability to relate to and work with disadvantaged youth
  • Proven customer service skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to meet frequent deadlines and handle stressful, hectic situations without loss of efficiency or composure
  • Proficient in using computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
