Telephone Operator - Per Diem - Day

Responsibilities
- Answers hospital incoming calls, ensuring they are answered within 3 rings. Determines which extension or departmental personnel to connect with the caller through a brief screening process.
- Contacts hospital personnel as requested through the paging system, using it accurately.
- Demonstrates knowledge of On-Call scheduling by handling physician's on-call calls according to established procedures and explaining to staff as needed.
- Keeps records and documentation up to date to maintain a consistently high level of productivity.
- Furnishes accurate information regarding patient location, visiting hours, and organizational information, demonstrating knowledge of hospital departments, services, and policies and procedures.
- Keeps callers informed about the status of their call and takes initiative to open lines of communication when on hold or in a ring/no answer situation.
- Operates a data linked multi-position PBX console automated system, demonstrating understanding of PBX console features and completing all calls in an expeditious yet courteous manner.
- Provides directory information for both internal and external callers through computer systems, using them accurately and rapidly.
- Responds immediately to all emergencies and alarms, managing trauma codes, fires, and disasters accurately and timely.
- Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills, including but not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.
Compensation

- Internal Equity: Compensation is determined in a manner consistent with compensation ranges for similar roles within the organization.
- Budget and Grant Funding: Departmental budgets and any grant funding associated with the job position may impact the pay that can be offered.
