Technologist I, Medical Laboratory Scientist

About the role

The role involves performing routine and complex laboratory procedures under the technical guidance of supervisors. Responsibilities include prioritizing tasks, maintaining equipment, and communicating with providers and clinical staff.

Responsibilities

• Performs requested laboratory tests and special analyses according to established policies and procedures.
• Prioritizes laboratory testing and other duties to ensure optimal efficiency and timely reporting of results.
• Operates and maintains laboratory equipment, performs routine safety checks, and conducts preventive maintenance.
• Communicates with reference labs to confirm results, specimen disposition, and orders supplies.
• Assists with workload recording, inventory control, and resolves pending lists.
• Supports clinical point of care testing and participates in departmental meetings and training.
• Assumes responsibility for day-to-day operations in absence of higher-level supervisors.

Requirements

• Minimum one (1) year of post-registration MT/MLS experience.
• Bachelor’s degree and/or MT/MLS Registration or equivalent documentation from the state of Georgia.
• Basic Life Support required at hire.
• Able to work independently, demonstrate good customer service, interpersonal skills, dependability, and critical thinking.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or four (4) years of related health science experience preferred.

• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
