Technician I
About the role
The successful candidate will be responsible for pre-analytical processes within the life cycle of the laboratory specimen, including collection, packaging, shipping, receiving, processing, tracking, and archiving. They will also manage inventory, handle post-analytical processes such as sample disposition and archive sendouts, contribute to laboratory maintenance, interface with clients to resolve specimen inquiries and requests, recommend improvements, and assist with routine operations.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for pre-analytical processes within the life cycle of the laboratory specimen: collection, packaging, shipping, receiving, processing, tracking, and archiving
- Responsible for receiving and storing reagents both in the facility and in LabVantage
- Responsible for inventory management
- Responsible for post-analytical processes, including sample disposition and archive sendouts
- Contributes to laboratory maintenance, as assigned
- Interfaces with Eurofins DPT clients to resolve specimen inquiries and requests
- Recommends changes in services, processes, and policies that enhance pre-analytical efficiencies
- Performs duties in compliance with all applicable regulatory and accrediting agencies
- Affords assistance to department as needed with routine operations
- Supports Eurofins DPT’s business philosophy, leadership values, and ethics
Qualifications
- Minimum educational requirements: High School diploma or equivalent
- Work experience requirements: 0 – 2 years of experience, new to the clinical laboratory testing environment
- Skills required: Strong customer service skills, strong communication skills and analytical skills
Potential Environmental Factors
- This laboratory carefully maintains all hazardous materials. All employees must abide by Eurofins DPT’s Safety and Exposure procedures, which include using provided safety clothing and equipment.
- A list of potential chemical hazards can be found in appropriate MSDS sheets.
Compensation and Schedule
Compensation: $19.00-$20.00 per hour
Schedule: Thursday-Sunday 8:00pm-6:30am
