About the role
The R&O Mechanical Tech I at Crane Aerospace and Electronics is responsible for testing, troubleshooting, repairing, and modifying electro-mechanical components, assemblies, parts, equipment, and systems. This role operates in a highly regulated manufacturing or repair environment.
Responsibilities
- Read component maintenance manuals, blueprints, schematic drawings, and engineering instructions for assembling electro-mechanical units
- Write tear down reports and accurately record testing data and inspection
- Test electro-mechanical units using standard test equipment and analyze results to evaluate performance and determine need for adjustment
- Test and maintain mechanical components according to engineering instructions, technical manuals, using hand and power tools
- Identify and resolve equipment malfunctions, working with manufacturers and field representatives as necessary to procure replacement parts
- Support Crane Business System (CBS) initiatives including 5S, KPI’s, Standard Work, Problem Solving, and other initiatives as they arise
- Flexible and willing to work overtime if necessary
- Any other task assigned by supervisor or management
Qualifications
- Experience: 0 - 6 months’ experience in a highly regulated manufacturing or repair environment
- Knowledge: Knowledge of methods and procedures in mechanical characteristics as related to area of assignment and ability to devise and adapt; Familiarity with product flow through a manufacturing or repair environment; Working knowledge of computer systems.
- Critical thinking and the use of reasoning to identify solutions and conclusions.
- Skills: Good oral expression and comprehension (communicate through speech so others will understand and listen to and understand information and ideas presented through speech); Good written expression and comprehension (communicate in English through writing so others will understand and read and understand information and ideas presented in English through writing).
- Time management skills are required.
- Abilities: Ability to learn new test software and equipment and to identify abnormal conditions in equipment and product; Manual and finger dexterity (ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects); Ability to make precisely coordinated movements; Ability to work in multiple software systems, including time enter, data enter.
- Education/Certification: High School diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of raw materials, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective repair and distribution of goods
- AA degree in Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical Technology, or equivalent knowledge through experience or other recognized educational institution

Working Conditions
- Working conditions are normal for a repair station environment
- Repair operations may require the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: eye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps and any other required PPE
- May be exposed to unusual environmental conditions such as loud noises, cold temperatures, confined spaces, dust or fumes
- May require occasional travel to support customer
