Join Walmart as a General Facilities Maintenance Technician and play a key role in maintaining the operational integrity and efficiency of food equipment in our stores. This position involves routine maintenance tasks to uphold safety, functionality, and aesthetics of facilities, equipment, or fixtures under the supervision of the local General Maintenance Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and repair Walmart facilities, equipment, and assets using multiple craft skills (e.g., plumbing, electrical, carpentry, material handling equipment, food equipment) and hand/power tools.
  • Utilize the work order management system to receive and document reactive repair work orders supporting stores and associates.
  • Provide prompt response to emergency maintenance calls.
  • Inspect, operate, or test facilities, equipment, or fixtures to diagnose issues.
  • Develop and adhere to preventative maintenance schedules to reduce expenses and ensure equipment safety.
  • Train Store Associates on equipment care, cleaning, and proper use to minimize misuse and damage.
  • Manage accurate and timely completion of work orders and maintenance logs.
  • Maintain clear, transparent, and respectful communication with team members and store associates.
  • Handle changing and competing demands with adaptability and strong collaborative skills.

Equipment Serviced

  • Food Equipment: Combi ovens, deli slicers, auto meat cutters, fryers, hot cases, ice makers, pizza ovens, rotisserie ovens, thermoglazers, donut cases, four bowl warmers, bakery ovens, bread slicers, tortilla makers.
  • Grease and Oil Systems: Oil/water separators, used cooking oil tanks.

Requirements

  • 18 years or older with a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and move up/down ladders frequently.
  • Comfortable working at heights and in various temperatures.
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license with a clean driving record and ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) report.
  • Eligible for a Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • Vocational or Technical certification and 1 year of experience, or 2 years total work experience, in one of the following trades: plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related trade.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of a 2-year Vocational or Technical trade program.
  • License in a related trade in the city and/or state where the job is located.
  • Proficiency in intermediate-level functionality of word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Pay

The hourly wage range for this position is $23.00 - $42.00. The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location. Additional compensation in the form of premiums may apply, ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed.
