About the role

We are seeking a Technical Director - Emergency Preparedness to lead our team in the US East Region. This role involves mentoring and guiding the team, managing environmental emergencies, and collaborating with clients and agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor and guide the team in emergency response and preparedness
  • Tackle environmental emergencies and collaborate with clients and agencies
  • Manage key client and customer relationships
  • Contribute to strategic areas of a community of practice
  • Manage data collection and analysis activities
  • Develop and write materials for critical audiences
  • Manage environmental impact assessments
  • Manage environmental risk management activities
  • Lead strategy development for a significant area of responsibility
  • Ensure adherence to HSE policies and procedures
  • Evaluate and develop staff capabilities
  • Manage and report on performance within the department
  • Develop policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Manage and execute major projects
  • Respond to bid solicitations and prepare proposals
  • Secure permissions and consents for development sites
  • Analyze and integrate complex information sources to develop innovative solutions

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience in environmental emergency response and preparedness, environmental site assessments and remediation
  • 7+ years of Project Management Experience
  • Track record of revenue growth through Business Development activities
  • Effective communication with technical professionals, clients, and regulatory officials
  • Positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills, team player, and leader
  • Strong mentorship and coaching skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Experience with railroad, pipeline, and oil & gas-related emergencies

Qualifications

  • Passionate about environmental stewardship and problem-solving
  • Willingness to travel up to 60% of the time (mostly local, some regional)
  • On-call 24/7/365 and available for technical assistance during non-routine working hours
  • Experience with emergency preparedness, air monitoring, environmental assessment/sampling, ICS, SCAT, regulatory compliance (PHMSA, EPA, DOT)
  • Experience with railroad, pipeline, and oil & gas-related emergencies

$136,000 - $238,000 based on experience and location.
