  • About the Role

    We are looking for a Technical Director - Emergency Preparedness to join our team based in the US East Region.

    Responsibilities

    Your role will extend beyond project management to include business development and client expansion activities, where your expertise in environmental engineering, geology, or related fields will shine.

    • Leading environmental sampling and monitoring programs
    • Spearheading regional visibility initiatives
    • Managing key client and customer relationships
    • Maintaining customer satisfaction and loyalty
    • Contributing to strategic areas within a community of practice
    • Managing data collection and analysis activities
    • Developing and writing materials for critical audiences
    • Managing environmental impact assessments
    • Planning and implementing risk activities aligned with environmental regulations and sustainability initiatives
    • Leading the development and implementation of strategy for a significant area of responsibility
    • Ensuring adherence to HSE policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions
    • Evaluating staff capabilities and prioritizing development activities
    • Coaching and mentoring others to support the development of the organization's talent pool
    • Managing and reporting on performance within the department or area of responsibility
    • Setting performance objectives for direct reports and holding them accountable for achieving them
    • Developing policies, procedures, and related guidelines for an important area of responsibility
    • Managing a portfolio of major projects in line with overall project management strategy
    • Gathering information and resources to draft and complete proposals in response to complex bid solicitations, request for proposal, and request for tender
    • Securing relevant permissions and consents for development sites
    • Integrating and analyzing complex and diverse information sources to develop innovative solutions

    Requirements

    With 7+ years of project management experience under your belt, including a proven track record in emergency management, client relationship management, and business development, you'll bring a wealth of knowledge to the table.

    • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science or a related field
    • 7+ years of experience in one or more of the following: Environmental emergency response and preparedness, Environmental site assessments and remediation
    • 7+ years of Project Management Experience
    • Track record of revenue growth through Business Development activities
    • Ability to effectively communicate with other technical professionals, clients, and regulatory officials
    • Positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills, team player and leader
    • Strong mentorship and coaching skills to assist with development of junior staff
    • Strong delegation skills to ensure that emergency projects are staffed and managed appropriately
    • Willingness to travel up to 60% of the time (mostly local, some regional)
    • Being on-call 24/7/365 and responding to call outs and requests for technical assistance during non-routine working hours
    • Strong organizational skills to assist with day-to-day operations of the business and organize logistically complex responses/projects
    • Experience with railroad, pipeline, and oil & gas related emergencies

    • Experience with railroads, pipelines, and oil & gas emergencies
    • On-call availability for emergencies

    • Knowledge of regulatory compliance (PHMSA, EPA, DOT)

    Pay

    The salary range for this position is $136,000-$238,000 based on experience and location.

    Schedule

    This role requires being on-call 24/7/365 and responding to call outs and requests for technical assistance during non-routine working hours.
