About the role

We are seeking a Technical Director - Emergency Preparedness to lead our team in environmental emergencies and collaborate with clients and agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor and guide the team in emergency response and preparedness
  • Collaborate with clients and agencies to ensure effective response and resolution
  • Lead environmental sampling and monitoring programs
  • Spearhead regional visibility initiatives
  • Manage key client and customer relationships
  • Contribute to strategic areas in a community of practice
  • Manage data collection and analysis activities
  • Develop and write highly visible materials
  • Manage environmental impact assessments
  • Manage environmental risk activities
  • Formulate strategy for significant areas of responsibility
  • Evaluate staff capabilities and implement development activities
  • Manage and report on performance within the department
  • Develop policies, procedures, and guidelines
  • Manage and oversee major projects
  • Respond to complex bid solicitations and fulfill all process requirements
  • Secure permissions and consents for development sites
  • Analyze complex and diverse information sources to develop innovative solutions

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience in environmental emergency response and preparedness, environmental site assessments and remediation
  • 7+ years of Project Management Experience
  • Track record of revenue growth through Business Development activities
  • Effective communication with technical professionals, clients, and regulatory officials
  • Positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills, team player, and leader
  • Strong mentorship and coaching skills to assist with development of junior staff
  • Strong delegation skills to ensure appropriate staffing and management of emergency projects
  • Willingness to travel up to 60% of the time (mostly local, some regional)
  • On-call 24/7/365 and respond to call outs and requests for technical assistance during non-routine working hours
  • Strong organizational skills to assist with day-to-day operations and organize complex responses/projects
  • Experience with emergency preparedness, air monitoring, environmental assessment/sampling, ICS, SCAT, regulatory compliance (PHMSA, EPA, DOT)
  • Experience with railroad, pipeline, and oil & gas related emergencies

$136,000 - $238,000 based on experience and location.

Schedule

Asynchronous, with occasional on-call responsibilities.
