Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, adjust, and repair port equipment such as harbor mobile cranes, reach stackers, and ship cranes over the phone and via email.
  • Provide technical support to service engineers and customers as needed.
  • Assist service engineers, customers, and spare parts department with part-related questions.
  • Provide technical training and support to service engineers and customers.
  • Travel to customer locations to provide the highest level of technical support when required.
  • Maintain and operate the service department when the service manager is out of the office.
  • Set a positive example in punctuality and professional demeanor through respectful communication with all staff levels, maintaining clean and orderly work areas, and promoting safety regulations and company programs.
  • Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or modification to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Repair and replace damaged or worn parts.
  • Operate and inspect machines or heavy equipment to diagnose defects.
  • Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools.
  • Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles.
  • Examine parts for damage or excessive wear using micrometers and gauges.
  • Read, understand, and interpret operating manuals, parts manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings.
  • Overhaul and test machines or equipment to ensure operating efficiency.
  • Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments such as handheld computers, motor analyzers, chassis charts, and pressure gauges.
  • Inspect and verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to factory specifications.
  • Complete assigned paperwork as instructed.
  • Oversee the maintenance of quality standards through visual and mechanical inspection methods.
  • Promote a safe work environment by ensuring safety procedures are followed.
  • Oversee the handling and disposing of hazardous wastes, such as toner, oil, antifreeze, transmission fluid, auto parts cleaner, and similar materials.
  • Successfully complete factory-authorized training.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of Sculi and Crane Management software.
  • Prepare for jobs by checking parts and drawings for accuracy and completeness.
  • Complete jobs independently with minimal assistance from others.
  • Properly fill out working reports, hour reports, timesheets, hour overviews, and expense reports.
  • Assist customers with troubleshooting and part-related questions when needed.
  • Attend training sessions as required.
  • Maintain a minimum set of tools required for job performance.
  • Care for and maintain company tools, machines, and equipment.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and act as a role model for other employees.
  • Maintain company service literature and stay aware of technical changes.
  • Assume the lead person position.
  • Train and/or mentor others in the department.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or five (5) years of related experience and/or training in repair and maintenance of relevant equipment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency in PC-based word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to multi-task while completing work in a competent and professional manner.
  • Must be able to comprehend, speak, and write the English language.
  • Demonstrates initiative to visualize, organize, manage, and complete projects in individual and group settings.
  • Ability to interface with all levels of staff.
  • Demonstrates ability to handle confidential information.
  • Travel domestically and internationally up to 25% of the time.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver license and passport.
  • Ability to work weekends or on-call duty.

Pay

$120,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year.
