About the Role
McGuireWoods is seeking a Technical Advisor to assist the firm's Commercial Litigation - Patent group in analyzing and understanding computer-related technology involved in various patent litigation matters.
Responsibilities
- Understand the historical and latest developments in specific and related areas of technology.
- Analyze and understand standards applicable in specific and related areas of technology.
- Analyze embodiments of technology, including use of products, methods, and services by clients, and provide analyses relating to patent infringement and non-infringement.
- Analyze patents in specific and related areas of technology, including patents and patent families at issue in litigation, and provide industry definitions for specific terms in the patents.
- Perform research and analyze patents and other prior art in specific and related areas of technology, including for invalidity purposes.
- Convey knowledge and teach litigation teams about technology, products, services, and patents at issue.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science; a Master’s Degree or Ph.D. is preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong planning and organizational skills.
- High level of attention to detail.
- Self-motivated with a high level of initiative.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to respond effectively to employees and management and handle sensitive and/or confidential communications.
- Excellent research and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under time restraints and deadlines.
- Ability to analyze and conclude.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other PC skills.
- Willingness and desire to work with innovative technology platforms, including Harvey, a legal-specific AI tool.
