About the role

The Technical Advisor - Water/Wastewater plays a critical role in the Municipal Water Contract Operations. The Technical Advisor works closely with business development teams to develop compelling, coherent and competitive offers for Municipal O&M clients. This position bridges technical water/wastewater expertise with client engagement to bring best-in-class solutions reflecting Veolia's "Professional Operations" standard of excellence. By combining a deep understanding of water and/or wastewater process, municipal utility operations and a consultative, client-first mindset, the Technical Advisor will translate client needs into structured solutions that drive lasting impact for our partners and sustainable growth for the business.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in business pursuits for water and/or wastewater activities nationally, including client engagement, system assessments and contributions to statements of qualifications, technical approaches, proposals, and interviews.
  • Provide technical input in the business development process, including subject matter expertise on water/wastewater sector trends, operational best practice, treatment technologies, regulatory environment, etc.
  • Conduct technical and performance assessments of municipal water and wastewater systems to surface operational, financial, and strategic needs of municipal customers.
  • Collaborate with the business development team to shape offers and solutions aligning customer needs with Veolia's Professional Operations value proposition.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in client meetings and proposal settings to help articulate the value story and position Veolia as a partner of choice.
  • Work transversally with Business Development and Operations to ensure offers are comprehensive, competitive, and structured for implementation.
  • Participate in industry conferences, associations and networks, such as Water Environment Federation (WEF), WEFTEC, SWANA, AWWA, Water Environment Association (WEA), etc.
  • Contribute to Veolia's growth machine by continuously refining and standardizing offers for scalability.
  • Mentor and support business developers in incorporating solutions into sales engagements.
  • Share best practices and contribute to building an offer library for MWCO.

Work Environment

  • Hybrid work environment.
  • Regular travel is to be expected for client engagement and new business.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's and/or advanced degree in Engineering (civil, mechanical, environmental, or process), Environmental Science or related field required.
  • Minimum 8-12 years of experience in water/wastewater services, operations or engineering consulting.
  • Experience in client-facing roles related to the implementation of municipal O&M projects.
  • Track record of successfully developing and delivering client solutions in a technical services or infrastructure context.

Skills

  • Strong technical background in water/wastewater process, engineering, operations, or municipal utility consulting.
  • Ability to perform system technical and performance assessments and translate conclusions into structured, differentiating service offerings for clients.
  • Business acumen including financial literacy, strategic thinking, structured problem-solving, and experience with developing business cases and KPIs.
  • Consultative, client-centered communication: active listening, identification of needs, providing solutions.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to connect big-picture vision to actionable plans.
  • Collaborative and influential, comfortable working across technical, commercial, and client-facing teams.
  • Excellent presentation and storytelling skills to paint compelling solution narratives.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training

  • Valid Driver's license and safe driving record.
  • Professional Engineering, Operator Certification or other equivalent confirmation of technical qualifications is highly valued.
