Technical Account Manager – Bessemer, AL

About the Role

Develop, maintain, and assess strategic accounts, provide technical support, and build favorable relationships with key clients in the mining and mobile industries.

Responsibilities

• Recommend and sell equipment and repair services utilizing knowledge of hydraulic equipment operations and customer needs.
• Review and submit bid specifications and quotations to customers for review and approval.
• Submit orders for product and follow up to verify material list accuracy and ensure delivery schedules meet project deadlines and customer commitments.
• Analyze application and use of hydraulic components in systems and recommend improvements to reliability and efficiency.
• Review existing customer specifications for accuracy and identify opportunities to provide a selling advantage or improve their bottom line through superior products, pricing, or service.
• Demonstrate and explain the use of installed equipment and production processes.
• Arrange for installation and test-operation of machinery/products and recommend solutions to product-related problems.
• Contact current and potential customers, visit establishments to evaluate needs, and promote the sale of products and services.
• Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, literature, meetings, and workshops.
• Perform related duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.
• Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.

Requirements

• High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree in Business or related field preferred.
• Extensive background in outside sales calling on underground longwall mines or extensive operational/maintenance experience in an underground longwall mine.
• Ability to work under minimal supervision.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Strong communication skills with internal and external customers.
• Proven ability to meet deadlines and follow directions.
• Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, basic drawing reading skills, and ERP systems.

• Ability to safely and successfully perform essential job duties consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
• Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
• Ability to work safely and adhere to the Swanson Safety System in daily job duties.
