About the role

Responsibilities
- Performs a wide range of services in clinic and hospital-based laboratories, including venipuncture, specimen processing, and specimen receiving desk duties.
- Maintains positive patient identification and ensures proper post-care of phlebotomy sites.
- Collects specimens and prepares them for analysis, following standard operating procedures.
- Works independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks based on workload and patient needs.
- Uses critical thinking skills to troubleshoot and solve problems related to laboratory procedures.
- Communicates professionally with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
- Adheres to infection control and isolation protocols.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Completion of a Phlebotomy, Medical Assistant program or equivalent work experience.
- Certification by a national association for phlebotomy or medical assisting (e.g., ASCP, AMT, NHA).
- One year of clinical experience in phlebotomy/medical assisting.
- Experience with specimen processing and clinical laboratory operations.
- Knowledge of lifespan growth and development, basic anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, adapt to changing schedules, and handle stressful situations.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Physical ability to lift, stand for long periods, and push/pull lab equipment.
