Tech I - Lab Support (Full Time Days)

About the role

Responsibilities

• Performs a wide range of services in clinic and hospital-based laboratories, including venipuncture, specimen processing, and specimen receiving desk duties.
• Maintains positive patient identification and ensures proper post-care of phlebotomy sites.
• Collects specimens and prepares them for analysis, following standard operating procedures.
• Works independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks based on workload and patient needs.
• Uses critical thinking skills to troubleshoot and solve problems related to laboratory procedures.
• Communicates professionally with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
• Adheres to infection control and isolation protocols.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Completion of a Phlebotomy, Medical Assistant program or equivalent work experience.
• Certification by a national association for phlebotomy or medical assisting (e.g., ASCP, AMT, NHA).
• One year of clinical experience in phlebotomy/medical assisting.
• Experience with specimen processing and clinical laboratory operations.
• Knowledge of lifespan growth and development, basic anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, adapt to changing schedules, and handle stressful situations.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Physical ability to lift, stand for long periods, and push/pull lab equipment.
