Lab Support Tech, Full Time

About the role

The Laboratory Support Technician (LST III) is part of the provider care team, supporting reports, data, and scheduling functions of the laboratory. This position requires accurate, timely, and effective provision of laboratory support mechanisms.

Responsibilities

• Accurately acquire all required types of specimens for laboratory testing using safe, accurate, and effective methodologies while adhering to HIPAA confidentiality requirements and lab policies.
• Process, transport, and refer all types of laboratory specimens and reports as needed.
• Assist technologists in performing limited laboratory testing and appropriate test methods as required.
• Provide excellent customer service in accordance with Mercy's Signature Service Standards.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of phlebotomy or clinical laboratory experience.
• Previous Mercy LST II designation or equivalent experience.

Qualifications

• College level chemistry, Biology, or other Science courses preferred.
• Phlebotomy preceptor experience preferred.

Skills

• Excellent customer service skills.
• Safe, accurate, and effective specimen acquisition and handling.
• Compliance with HIPAA confidentiality requirements and lab policies.
• Ability to assist technologists in performing laboratory tests.
