About the Role
The Laboratory Support Technician (LST II) is part of the provider care team, acting in a support capacity for reports, data, and scheduling functions of the laboratory. This position ensures the accurate, timely, and effective provision of laboratory support mechanisms while exhibiting excellent customer service skills in line with Mercy Signature Service Standards. The LST II is responsible for the skillful acquisition of all required types of specimens for laboratory testing, utilizing safe, accurate, and professional methodologies while observing HIPAA confidentiality requirements and lab policies.
Responsibilities
- Provide laboratory support for reports, data, and scheduling functions.
- Exhibit excellent customer service in all interactions.
- Acquire specimens for laboratory testing using safe and accurate methods.
- Adhere to HIPAA confidentiality requirements and laboratory policies.
- Perform duties consistent with Mercy’s mission, values, and service standards.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 6 months of phlebotomy or clinical laboratory experience or successful completion of a clinical training program.
- Must satisfactorily complete facility-specific competencies (e.g., checklists, written examinations, management observations) to advance to the next job level.
