About the role

Leads employees in complex sort, warehouse, ramp and/or yard functions in the proper handling of packages/freight, ensuring accuracy and completeness of necessary paperwork and adherence to proper methods. Performs other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Ensure effective operations through proper handling of packages/freight.
• Complete necessary paperwork accurately.
• Follow and enforce proper methods in sort, warehouse, ramp, and yard functions.
• Coach and train employees during sort operations.
• Prioritize assignments and make quick decisions with available information.
• Effectively communicate verbally and delegate responsibilities in a time-sensitive, noisy operations environment.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Six (6) months of FedEx handler experience, preferably including 3 months in the work area with the open position.
• Ability to successfully complete basic and re-currency training.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Ability to maneuver packages of any weight above 50 lbs with appropriate equipment and/or assistance.
• Good human relations and communication skills.
• Good understanding of FedEx systems and operations.
• Non-Covered Safety Sensitive Position; ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience coaching and training employees.
• Strong decision-making and delegation skills in a fast-paced environment.
