Key Responsibilities
- Ensures there is no injury to self or others by following safe work practices (including Standard Operating Procedures) and policies.
- Food Safety is everyone’s responsibility. Attend and participate in all training activities for the position. Ensure the acquired skills and knowledge are applied.
- Ensures sanitation of equipment and housekeeping of the entire facility.
- Ensures self-compliance with Company policies, Standard Operating Procedures, and the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Must be a team player and help to meet operational goals.
- Conducts oneself in a professional manner and ensures that personal appearance meets the standards necessary to perform the job functions while representing the Company.
- Performs all such other duties as may be reasonably assigned by Manager.
- Leads the Quality Assurance Team on assigned shift ensuring that the produced and packaged product meets customer and company specifications and expectations.
- Communicates with the Shift Manager and other team members on a regular basis throughout the shift to make them aware of any developments that may affect the quality of the product.
- Ensures the Lab area is properly staffed and maintained.
- Ensures that all information is entered into MMS accurately and in a timely manner.
- Ensures the correct / accurate completion of all written documents/procedures required.
- Ensures verification of critical control points (CCP) accurately and in a timely manner.
- Leads the QA team members ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Leads QA team members to ensure their compliance with plant policies, procedures and the collective bargaining agreement.
- Ensures communication with Shift Manager and other team members on a regular basis throughout the shift to make them aware of any developments affecting the consistent production of quality product.
- Ensures team meetings are meaningful in context and encourages team members to express themselves on pertinent problems relating to their jobs.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- One year of food processing experience or relevant college degree.
- Successfully completed the Job Skill Evaluation to begin training in the position.
- Completed the Structured Job Training program within recommended timeframe to remain in the position permanently.
- Ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and calculate percentages to make proper adjustments and calibrations, as required.
- Ability to read, understand, and communicate in English in a manner to successfully complete job duties.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Able to demonstrate manual and physical dexterity.
- Able to work with hazardous and corrosive chemicals in small areas.
- Able to tell time and be able to convert regular time to military time.
- Able to use a computer and successfully navigate through various applications.
- Able to use portable radios and base radios for communication.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge in the areas of Quality Assurance team functions, Product specifications/standards, Quality Assurance team customer expectations, EEO/Plant policies, and Statistics.
- Good human relations skills including; leadership, delegating, coaching, participative management style, subordinate development, and problem solving.
- Physical ability to perform the tasks of all jobs in the Quality Assurance Lab.
