Team Lead - Parts

About the Role

The Team Lead is responsible for maintaining the parts schedule in a safe and timely manner, overseeing their assigned area and all personnel and equipment within it. This role involves guiding the workforce, interpreting section policies and procedures, and utilizing company computer software and approved drawings to direct production activities. The Team Lead collaborates with cross-functional teams (Sales Operations, Engineering, Finance, Materials & HR) to execute company strategies, meet budgets, and implement planned processes. They support the design, development, and implementation of processes and metrics in manufacturing, including lean initiatives, 5S, workplace safety, onboarding, and training. This role also demonstrates hands-on leadership in alignment with the Production Manager and Director of Manufacturing Operations to uphold cultural beliefs and values.

Responsibilities

• Provides daily direction and leadership to the parts department's team members.
• Leads all expedited and project-based parts orders.
• Understands and adheres to FMH Conveyors Company handbook, section policies, and procedures.
• Performs activities utilizing all machinery and equipment in the assigned section.
• Promotes continual improvement within the department and organization.
• Examines items produced to ensure they meet specifications.
• Follows documented manufacturing/assembly processes using operational procedures.
• Recommends measures to improve section production methods and overall effectiveness.
• Coordinates daily/weekly/monthly schedules to meet delivery demands.
• Monitors the quality, quantity, and efficiency of products produced by team members.
• Maintains collaborative relationships with team members to produce excellent products safely and on time.
• Provides cross-training opportunities and other training for team members.
• Ensures daily, weekly, and monthly goals are met and sustained.
• Observes safety and security procedures; uses equipment and materials properly; reports unsafe conditions.
• Processes and picks orders as needed.
• Maintains departmental inventory integrity (cycle counts).
• Coordinates inventory, LTL, and dedicated shipments with other departments.
• Helps maintain DMS board integrity.
• Communicates shortages to buyers and planners.

Requirements

• High School Diploma.
• Understanding of ERP/MRP systems (Epicor).
• Strong leadership skills and the ability to display original thinking and creativity.
• Resourcefulness in meeting challenges and generating suggestions for improving work/processes.
• Quick learner; open to change and strives for continuous improvement of self and processes.
• Excellent and professional communication (oral and written).
• Ability to perform basic math, including whole numbers, common fractions, decimals, rates, ratios, and percentages.
• Knowledge of production and experience with lean concepts and tools.
• Strong analytical, administrative, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office suite, particularly Excel.
• Forklift certification.

Physical Requirements

• Stand, walk, or be mobile for up to a 10-12-hour shift.
• Ascend, squat, push, and pull up to 100 lbs.
• Bend, twist, and reach with hands and arms to feel objects, tools, or controls.
• Inspect and check products.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
