Team Lead- Mech Assembly

Location: Houston, TX | Department: DEPTEC

About the role

Team Leads are responsible for overseeing teams of employees and motivating them to complete their job duties effectively. They will know every aspect of the mechanical building process for projects they are responsible for and be capable of sharing that knowledge with team members.

Responsibilities

• Interpret mechanical engineering drawings and communicate requirements to work teams.
• Identify and report discrepancies and control drawings.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and assembly processes.
• Ensure project schedule milestones are met.
• Communicate clear instructions and coach the work team to meet cost, quality, and schedule requirements.
• Report defective material or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
• Manage all work orders associated with assembly: track, assign, and monitor work orders.
• Plan resource requirements based on work orders and production plan.
• Foster a spirit of teamwork within the department.
• Ensure timeliness, safety, and quality of material movement.
• Maintain safe work practices, including Lock‑out Tag‑out, and ensure crews follow HSE programs.
• Train employees on safety regulations, work policies, and standards in conjunction with supervision and the Safety Department.
• Develop skills and abilities of team members and ensure required training is completed.
• Ensure work is completed accurately and documented on QC checklists.
• Assist team members in recording labor to timesheets in the company ERP system.
• Act with integrity, supporting company core values and focusing on meeting/exceeding customer requirements.
• Maintain a clean work environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of relevant experience.
• Ability to establish effective methods and procedures for installation of mechanical components, equipment, and instruments.
• Familiarity with mechanical assembly and measurement tools.
• Ability to perform basic math.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
• Experience supervising others and effectively coaching and leading team members.
• Practical experience in mechanical assembly.
• Ability to manage people and make decisions.
• Knowledge of team‑leading practices and techniques.
• Ability to coordinate and oversee multiple work orders.
• Commitment to continual improvement, quality management systems, and safe work practices.
• Understanding of production and work order processes.
• Knowledge of company policies and procedures.
• Factory experience required.
• Physical ability to lift 30–50 lb regularly and to stand, bend, crouch, and reach.
• Excellent hand‑eye coordination, attention to detail, listening, and communication skills.
• Ability to motivate others, lead by example, demonstrate strong work ethic, and maintain excellent safety awareness.
