What We Are Looking For
The Department Lead is responsible for coordinating the activities of production and employees by acting as a bridge between employees and the Production Supervisor.
What You’ll Be Responsible For In This Role
- Ensure a safe working environment and that the team is working safely
- Set the example for safety, attendance, productivity, attitude, etc.
- Assign tasks to meet daily production targets
- Ensure team members have required PPE, parts, tools, etc., to perform assigned tasks
- Provide on-the-spot verbal coaching or correction and document as required, both good and bad
- Keep supervisor informed of individual performance trends, both good and bad
- Ensure production standards are met
- Mediate conflict between team members
- Understand at a basic level employment compliance risks (ex: ADA, FMLA, sexual harassment, bullying, threats of violence, etc.), and report to department leadership and HR in a timely manner
- Ensure team members are trained to perform assigned tasks
- Complete audits and sign offs in respective areas
- Ensure critical information is communicated at shift turnover
- Demonstrate understanding of production operations
- Assist assigned department with tracking parts, resolving issues, and communicating with team members
- Assume other activities and responsibilities from time-to-time as directed by supervisor
- Read and comprehend a job order, bill of materials, blueprint, text, or schematic drawings
- Identify parts and part descriptions using work order information and identify proper tools needed to perform duties in respective area
- Absorb and assist with lean initiatives on the floor and participate and/or lead continuous improvement events
- Must be able to adapt to rapidly changing situations
- Perform any assembly-type function, using hand or power tools
- Utilize appropriate information given on material gauging and dimensioning
- Read rulers, tape measurers, metal squares, and other measuring instruments
- Fasten parts together with bolts, screws, speed clips, rivets, or fasteners
- Identify maintenance needed on equipment and tooling
- Work at different workstations as production needs require
- Maintain the work area in a clean, safe, and orderly manner
- Use proper safety equipment and apparel required for each operation on individual’s product line or work cell
- Perform other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED required
- Minimum of two (2) years relevant experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
