Specialized Education Services, Inc. (SESI) provides specialized education programming for K-12 students who require additional educational and positive behavioral supports to overcome challenges that impede success in a traditional school setting. About the role

The Team Leader collaborates and leads a small learning community, ensuring it operates as a cohesive and effective unit in accordance with the mission of SESI Education. Responsibilities include instruction support, integration support, behavior management, family support, and staff supervision and training.

You excel at managing multiple priorities, adjusting to uncertainty, and maintaining positive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and implement SESI philosophy, policy, and procedures relating to conduct, discipline, educational, and attendance outcomes for students, staff, and parents.
  • Oversee daily operations including climate, safety, and environment for all students, staff, and visitors.
  • Review absentee issues and any possible student issues prior to the start of each school day; reassign students or staff if necessary.
  • Demonstrate professional leadership qualities while utilizing motivational techniques and strategies in the development of daily school-wide programs, operations, climate, and safety.
  • Respond to and support each emergent situation in the learning community, taking appropriate actions as defined by SESI practices and policies.
  • Notify appropriate members of the Leadership Team and contact parents as needed to report student progress.
  • Assist in taking all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students and staff, including managing student logistics such as movement throughout the building and intake and dismissal.
  • Continually review practices to ensure the community is as safe as possible.
  • Possess program and model knowledge of SESI policies and systems with the ability to manage and train others effectively.
  • Supervise assigned staff, including documenting their performance, development, training, and other issues.
  • Ensure all assigned staff comply with training, credentialing, and performance expectations.
  • Review and respond to any escalated student grievances; identify patterns or areas for staff training or improvement.
  • Promote student, school, and program success while managing academic, attendance, and behavioral needs.
  • Understand the principles of effective classroom management and support current curriculum and instructional approaches for students, including those with special needs.
  • Cultivate a true “team” environment that promotes a positive, caring atmosphere focused on educational success and behavioral management.
  • Maintain compliance with stakeholder contract standards, including understanding the current contract, training assigned staff, and notifying the Director of Operations of any possible infractions.
  • Exhibit professional conduct with school colleagues, students, and their parents in accordance with SESI policies, procedures, and work rules.
  • Perform other duties as assigned based on SESI needs and business requirements.

Qualifications

  • Education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in education, Criminal Justice, Social Services, or related fields.
  • Three years of previous experience working with at-risk youth highly preferred; one year required.

Pay

USD $50,000.00 - USD $60,000.00 per year.
