About the role
A teaching assistant is needed for a one-year-old classroom. The position is for 29.5 hours per week.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve meals and snacks
- Change diapers
- Auxiliary in daily reports and attendance recording
- Engage in play activities
- Assist in putting children to sleep
- Create a safe environment
- Support the lead teacher in planning, scheduling, and implementing the daily program
- Maintain a safe and positive environment
- Cultivate relationships with children, parents, and guardians
- Attend staff meetings, training sessions, conferences, workshops, and other career development activities
- Complete continuing education hours per state requirements each year
- Maintain a pleasant, comfortable atmosphere for staff and children
Requirements
- High School diploma required
- Prior experience preferred, but not required
- Clear BCSC criminal background check
- TB testing, drug screening, digital fingerprinting, and health physical required upon employment
- Willingness to attend CPR/First Aid training
Qualifications
- CDA (Child Development Associate) certification or Associates in Early Childhood preferred
Skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of child development and safety practices

Pay
The starting hourly rate is $17.07 - $18.47 based on experience, with an additional $1 per hour from referendum funds.
Schedule
The position is less than 12 months, with 5.9 hours per day.
