General Responsibilities
The Assistant Teacher is responsible for assisting the teacher with the education and care services offered through CCM Health’s Child Care Center. This person will assist in planning and implementing age-appropriate lessons for cognitive, physical, and social emotional development; provide day-to-day care, and observe, assess, and document developmental milestones of children in their care.
Required Education/Training
- Be a minimum of 18 years of age
- Must fulfill DHS Rule 3 Assistant teacher education and experience requirements as follows:
- High school diploma or commissioner of education-selected high school equivalency certification plus 2,080 hours worked as an aide or student intern
- Minnesota license as a family day care or group family day care provider plus 2,080 hours worked as a licensed family day care or group family day care provider
- Diploma from Association Montessori Internationale or preprimary credential, primary diploma, or provisional certificate from the American Montessori Society plus 520 hours worked as an aide or student intern
- Minnnesota technical institute certificate as a Child Development Assistant plus 520 hours worked as an aide or student intern
- Two years full-time postsecondary education from a college or university plus 1,040 hours worked as an aide or student intern
- Child Development Associate credential, center based or for family day care, from the Council for Early Childhood Professional Recognition
- Baccalaureate degree in any field from an accredited college or university
- Certificate or credential for a two-year program in child development or early childhood education at a Minnesota community college or technical college
- Licence from the Minnesota Department of Children, Families, and Learning for Prekindergarten Associate
