TEACHER (HIGH SCHOOL-PHYSICAL EDUCATION) (CORRECTIONAL FACILITY)

About the Role
The Teacher (High School-Physical Education) at Central California Women’s Facility plays a key role in enhancing public safety and promoting successful community reintegration through education and rehabilitative programs. The facility is committed to transforming the correctional landscape to create safer, more professional, and fulfilling environments for employees and the incarcerated population.
To qualify for the CF classification, candidates must first take and pass the required examination (see Exam/Assessment section below).
Effective July 1, 2025, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) requires full-time employees to receive a 3% reduction in pay in exchange for 5 hours of PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027. Salaries listed do not reflect this change.
Responsibilities

- Delivering high school-level physical education instruction to incarcerated individuals.
- Supporting rehabilitative and restorative justice programs through education and active participation.
- Promoting safety, wellness, and human dignity within the facility.
Requirements
The following minimum requirements are outlined in the Class Specification:
- Possession of one of the following credentials:
- A Single Subject Credential or a Multiple Subject Credential.
- A Standard Secondary Credential with a major or minor in an academic subject area.
- A General Secondary Credential.
- Verification of education (unofficial transcripts/diploma required for application; official transcripts may be required upon appointment).
- Foreign degrees/transcripts must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency (see NACES).
- New hires must complete a background investigation, Live Scan fingerprinting, and tuberculosis testing prior to appointment, with annual TB testing thereafter.

Pay
- Hourly: $45.79 - $87.60
- Daily: $366.31 - $700.79
- Monthly: $6,715.68 - $12,847.82
New state candidates will be hired at the minimum salary of the classification or the minimum of the alternate range, where applicable.
Schedule
- Shift options:
- 6:30 AM – 2:30 PM
- 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM
- Work week options:
- Monday – Friday
- Tuesday – Saturday
