About the role
Instruct a course(s) recognized by the New York State Education Department. Prepare or modify curriculum and course outlines. Prepare daily or weekly lesson plans and conduct a schedule of formal instruction for residents of an Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) facility.
Minimum Qualifications
- One year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in this title or in a title eligible for 70.1 transfer.
- Open to the Public: This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).
NY HELPS Non-Competitive Minimum Qualifications Requirements for Appointment at Each Level
- Teacher 2: Current New York State Education Department initial certification in classroom teaching in the appropriate specialty.
- Teacher 3: Current New York State Education Department permanent/professional certification in classroom teaching in the appropriate specialty.
- Teacher 4: Current New York State Education Department permanent/professional certification in classroom teaching in the appropriate specialty and two years of post-certification (initial or permanent/professional) teaching experience in that same specialty.
Preferred Specialties
- Science 7-12 Certification MUST be at the 7-12 grade level
- Appointment level commensurate with certification.
