Teacher 2, 3, 4 (NY HELPS)

Duties Description

Instruct a course(s) recognized by the New York State Education Department.

Prepare or modify curriculum and course outlines.

Prepare daily or weekly lesson plans and conduct a schedule of formal instruction for residents of an Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) facility.

Minimum Qualifications

  • One year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in this title or in a title eligible for 70.1 transfer.

Requirements for Appointment at Each Level

  • For Teacher 2: Current New York State Education Department initial certification in classroom teaching in the appropriate specialty.
  • For Teacher 3: Current New York State Education Department permanent/professional certification in classroom teaching in the appropriate specialty.
  • For Teacher 4: Current New York State Education Department permanent/professional certification in classroom teaching in the appropriate specialty and two years of post-certification (initial or permanent/professional) teaching experience in that same specialty.

  • This position may be designated 55 b/c and is subject to verification of applicant eligibility.
  • The starting salary for each level is provided above.
  • Background Investigation Requirements: All prospective employees will undergo a Criminal Background Check (CBC), State and federal Criminal History Record Check, and Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment screening. Prospective employees may also be required to pay necessary fees.
