TDCJ - Program Supervisor III - Furniture Factory

About the role

Manage and lead a furniture and cabinet manufacturing program. Set strategic goals, handle budgets, and oversee daily factory production using your own judgment with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily manufacturing and repair of all furniture and cabinets, including creating production schedules, setting priority tasks, and establishing quality standards to meet output targets.
• Check raw materials, monitor supply levels, and order new stock.
• Track machinery maintenance, coordinate equipment repairs, and manage the installation of new factory hardware.
• Develop long-term program goals, operational guidelines, and organizational rules.
• Prepare comprehensive budget requests and manage productivity reports or official correspondence.
• Serve as the main link connecting factory staff, executive management, and external customers.
• Supervise personnel workflows, assign daily tasks, and conduct performance reviews.
• Partner with team leaders to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues.
• Conduct routine inspections to ensure all operations strictly follow agency policies, state laws, and federal regulations.
• Maintain complete accountability and security for all tools, machinery, and equipment.
• Maintain facility safety and act quickly to manage any critical incidents or emergencies.

Requirements

• One year of full-time, wage-earning experience in the supervision of employees or inmates.
• Thirty semester hours from a college may be substituted for each year of experience on a year-for-year basis for a maximum substitution of two years.
• Correctional custody or law enforcement experience preferred.
• Commitment to goals.

• Hazardous Duty/Longevity position.
